Submit Your Trail Reports!

You may have heard the news - we’re diversifying how we’re communicating with the public about trail conditions!  In addition to our own trail reporting form, and in addition to encouraging people to use the BCRD’s Summer TrailLink, we’re now getting more active on apps like Trailforks, Strava, and AllTrails.

Here’s a handy guide for submitting a trail report on Trailforks!  We’re loving these reports because:

  1. They are posted in real time - meaning if you are out on the weekend, and you see something (mud, down trees, flowing water over the trail, etc), you can post about it and other people will see it immediately!  No need to wait for us to get back into the office to send out an update about it.

  2. This platform is used by locals and tourists!  We need to reach folks who are visiting the area - they are a critical demographic to educate about caring for our trails, and Trailforks has a pretty large user base.

  3. Our trail network is huge!  There are so many different factors that can affect trail conditions - from sun angle to soil type, and we just don’t have the resources (especially during the winter) to get out on all of our trails every week.  By crowdsourcing the information from our community, we can get a better understanding of what people are seeing all over the Valley.

  4. Because we’re the regional administrators for our trail network, we can help moderate the comments and reports, although we have faith in our community to post accurate, helpful information!
